History of the Project

The idea for SumMed was born during a healthcare-focused hackathon in 2021. What started as a small experiment quickly proved its potential: our early prototypes showed that advanced language technology could truly make medical information more accessible. This was even before new tools like Chat-GPT pushed the art of the possible forward.

Over the years, we have refined our mission, tested different approaches, adopted the newest technologies and started collaborating with patients, doctors, and hospitals to ensure our tools are both accurate and user-friendly. Each iteration brought us closer to our goal of building an open-source, transparent, and globally accessible platform that bridges the gap between medical expertise and everyday understanding.

Today, SumMed stands is still a growing initiative—driven by innovation, community input, and a shared belief that health knowledge should be a right, not a privilege.
